A day course with Gen Kelsang Delek
This day course is about where to find happiness.
We often place our trust in things that deceive us, seeking happiness in accumulating possessions, reputation, or expanding our social life. But we know from our own experience that we’re often left feeling disappointed or let down, or simply just hollow inside when these things don’t work out. It is possible to experience true and lasting happiness; we can find something that will never let us down and that will give us the inner strength we long for. This course will show us how.
We will begin by looking deeply at our current predicament and then understand how Buddha, Dharma and Sangha protect us from the pains and problems of daily life – thus we go for refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
Then we will turn our mind to others who are in the same predicament as us, and train in developing love, compassion and bodhichitta.
Gen Delek will teach and guide meditations on refuge and bodhichitta. We will use the prayers Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra during this course, available from Tharpa Publications here.
This course is followed by a four-day guided retreat on refuge, a precious opportunity to take the teachings to heart and gain deeper experience of them.
This course is part of the Four Great Preliminary Guides series at KMC Fraser Valley. Throughout 2021, we are emphasizing these Guides, which are essential practices for making progress in our meditation practice. Find out more here.
